First Over 60 Premier Cup,2024, Bikaner
Introduction-
Bikaner Hosts Its First-Ever Over-60 Cricket Tournament: A Celebration of Passion and Sportsmanship
Cricket knows no age, and this was proven in Bikaner with the first-of-its-kind Over-60 Cricket Tournament, where senior players from across India showcased their enthusiasm and skill. Taking a pioneering step, Pollished Boundaries organized this grand event from 17th October to 20th October 2024, bringing together seasoned cricketers for a spirited competition.
Four teams—Artistic Masters, Central Strikers, Combined Heroes, and Western Warriors—competed in this league-based tournament, played in the 40-over format, with the final being a thrilling 20-over clash. The matches took place at Railway Ground and Sadul Cricket Ground, both witnessing remarkable performances and a display of undying cricketing passion.
All matches were broadcast live on YouTube, allowing viewers from around the world to watch the action in real-time. This live streaming provided fans, players’ families, and cricket enthusiasts with an opportunity to stay connected with the games, regardless of their location. The matches were accessible on any device with an internet connection, ensuring a wide reach and engagement. Additionally, the live streams may have included commentary, score updates, and interactive features like live chat, enhancing the overall viewing experience.
Proper medical facilities were arranged at both grounds to ensure the safety and well-being of all players, officials, and attendees. A dedicated medical team, equipped to handle injuries or emergencies, was present throughout the matches. Additionally, a fully equipped ambulance was stationed at each venue, ready to respond to any urgent medical situation. These measures were taken to provide immediate medical assistance if needed, ensuring a secure environment for everyone involved in the tournament.
The grand inaugural ceremony, held at Railway Ground on 17th October,was graced by MLA of Bikaner, Shri Jhethalal Vyas, and Divisional Railway Manager, Shri Ashish Kumar, who officially declared the tournament open. Adding to the event’s grandeur, the Army Band mesmerized the audience with its powerful performance, setting the perfect tone for the competition.
An evening visit to Karni Mata Temple, Deshnoke, offered visitors a unique and enriching experience. Known as the “Temple of Rats,” it houses thousands of revered kabas (rats), believed to be incarnations of Karni Mata’s devotees. The intricate marble carvings, silver doors, and divine aura left everyone mesmerized, while the chance to spot a rare white rat added excitement. For many, it was a first-time encounter with such a fascinating tradition, making the visit both spiritually uplifting and culturally enlightening.
After days of intense matches, the final saw Combined Heroes and Western Warriors battle for the championship, with Combined Heroes emerging victorious as the winners of the tournament’s first edition. The prize distribution ceremony, held at Railway Club, was an equally grand affair, with Additional Collector Shri Ramesh Dev, former footballer Shri Megh Singh, and Sr. DMM, NWR, Bikaner presenting awards to the deserving players.
Before the award ceremony, a cultural program was organized, offering guests a glimpse of Rajasthan’s rich heritage and traditions. The hospitality, seamless organization, and excellent arrangements received high praise from all dignitaries and participants, marking the event as a memorable milestone in Bikaner’s sporting history.
